The Estimator I is responsible for estimating projects by gathering proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents.
Primary Responsibilities

Acquires understanding of the requirements of the project to be estimated
Prepares concise construction estimate per plans and specifications
Communicates with subcontractors and vendors to discuss bid preparation
Site visits to gather essential information
Ensures timely completion of estimates
Resolves discrepancies in plans and specifications
Prepares detailed estimates for review
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Proven experience as a construction estimator
Understanding of accounting and project management concepts
Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
Comfortable with numbers and technology
Excellent knowledge of bid software
Great attention to detail
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Well-organized

Education and/or Experience

Must be PC literate and proficient in all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook etc), Adobe Pro.
3+ years’ experience in construction estimating
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction science or related field or equivalent work experience
Able to read engineering plans and specification to develop estimates
Strong understanding of public works construction
Excellent written, oral communication, and listening skills
Must be fluent in English
Strong customer service skills
Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
