Production Manager – Food manufacturing experience highly preferred
Responsible for coordinating and facilitating daily production resources to meet the safety, quality, cost and delivery expectations over a two-shift operation. Staffing and development of production team, setting direction and enabling them to drive results but also prioritize production activities based on demand. The Production Manager is working cross-functionally with other departments to continually improve policies and procedures to manage the safety, quality and food safety on all of our product lines.
 
Essential responsibilities & duties
 
Safety

•          Enforce and coach on all internal and external safety regulations.

•          Foster a safe working environment promoting safety-related processes and procedures

•          Be familiar with State and Federal Safety Requirements.
 
Product Quality

•          Responsible to maintain and improve product quality.

•          Review quality deviations and define corrective actions to avoid reoccurrence.

•          Ensure that sanitation and housekeeping of assigned areas meet standards as well as regulatory requirements.

•          Hold employees accountable for the quality of product.
 
Cost Control

•          Manage labor variances and develop action plans to reduce labor costs and reduce downtime.

•          Monitor line efficiencies and develop corrective actions for deviations from standard.

•          Monitor waste levels and develop action plans to reduce them.

•          Participate in long-term capital planning.

•          Analyze/develop cost studies of proposals for new equipment designed to reduce operating costs.
 
Production Planning

•          Ensure that production plan is followed and that the correct product at the right quantity is produced.

•          Responsible for material flow and material usage in the assigned area.

•          Inform the scheduling department about potential bottlenecks and underachievement.

•          Monitor and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

•          Consult with other departments regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment, which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.

•          Fosters and promotes a culture of teamwork between all plant departments.
 
Training

•          Motivate plant employees by recognizing positive achievements with regard to safe practices, work quality, attitude, attendance, follow-through and organization.

•          Oversee the execution of training programs as needed.

•          Leadership, coaching and development of direct report production supervisors.

•          Ensure proper training for supervisors, operators and associates. Inform management of training needs.
 
Employee Relations

•          Work closely together with Human Resources department to guarantee that all employee issues are addressed in a timely manner and according to company policy.
 
Technical Support and Continuous Improvement

•          Key driver of continuous improvement projects in Production.

•          Support when new processes and machinery are designed, built, installed, and trained.

•          Review design of new equipment.

•          Regular and prompt attendance required.

•          May include other projects or tasks, as assigned
 
Academic qualifications
 

Essential

Desirable

BA degree in Engineering/Food Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or other related field

Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or consumer packaging goods (CPG) highly preferred

4 to 6 years of related experience.

HACCP certification

 
Work experience & skills
 

– Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or consumer packaging goods (CPG) preferred
 – Strong understanding of lean principles
